Your nervous system is in the consultation too
The Practitioner as Medicine – a free 12-minute guided meditation for clinicians
You know the moment…
You’re sitting with a patient whose pain or struggle is hard to witness.
Something tightens in you – the urge to say the right thing, find the answer, make it better.
That pull comes from care. But when we become the fixer, we can quietly cast the person in front of us as the one who isn't whole. And it keeps both of us stuck.
This 12-minute meditation invites you to notice what happens in your body when the pull to fix shows up, and to practise staying present, steady and curious – without rushing to take the pain away.
That kind of capacity doesn't come from more technique or more knowledge. It comes from a nervous system that's resourced enough to stay.
Made for the clinic room
You can listen between patients, in your car before a hard appointment or lying down at the end of a long day.
It's for GPs, gynaecologists, women's health physios and any clinician who sits with people in discomfort.
This is where Transformational Medicine begins
This meditation is a small taste of the work at the heart of Transformational Medicine – the practitioner program created by integrative gynaecologists Dr Peta Wright and Dr Thea Bowler and women’s health physiotherapist Paula Hindle.
They built it because the “fix the tissue” model so often falls short – for the women living with pain and for the practitioners trying to help them.
The program starts where this meditation does: with your own nervous system. From there, it moves into the science, then into the scripts and consult structures you can use with patients straight away.
The program supports GPs, gynaecologists, physiotherapists, psychologists and integrative practitioners from across Australia and internationally.
Transformational Medicine is run by Vera Wellness, the Brisbane clinic that’s redefining health care and supporting women to take back their bodies and their power.
